She mentioned the story continuing at Wilton Park in passing. The Wilton Park estate was leased to the War office in 1939 and used as a reception and interrogation centre for high ranking German officers. It was also used by MI9, the branch of military intelligence that engineered the escape of Allied forces from behind enemy lines. Secret agents and resistance fighters risked their lives and those of their families to hide the men.
