Discover the fierce warrior queen, Boudica, whose revolt in AD  60/61 nearly toppled Roman rule in Britain!  Who was she? Why did she dare to challenge the might of Rome? What led to her eventual defeat?

Boudica's closest approach to Weston Turville was likely during her attack on Verulamium (modern-day St Albans), just 25 miles from here. The exact location of Bodica's defeat on Watling Street is unknown, one suggestion is Arbury Banks, Hertfordshire - 52 miles away.

Join us for an enthralling evening with Don Chiswell, an experienced and captivating speaker known for his fascinating take on historical events. With over 20 years of experience, Don is renowned for debunking popular historical myths and has delighted audiences across various local groups and societies.

Don is a long-standing tutor at City College Peterborough, offering guided tours and participating in historical re-enactments.

  “ AGM + Weston Turville Criminality Part 1 ” Adrian Randall Meeting on Friday 28 th Jun 2024 Another AGM already. We are always hopeful of beating our 8 minute record. The quicker the AGM, the more time there is for this talk by Adrian, our Webmaster. This talk was originally intended as a presentation we had ready in case of an emergency. The research into crimes relating to Weston Turville and it’s residents became too interesting to potentially be left on the shelf. We have had to focus in on the 19 th Century crimes committed by a single individual, considered “The King of the Vagabonds”. This talk has an accompanying book containing the materials there was no time to include in the presentation. It will be on sale at the meeting for £12 (£10 a copy for members).
