Dear Member,

We hope that all our members and the people of Weston Turville have remained safe since the Covid pandemic started in March 2020. Having cancelled all the monthly meetings of the Weston Turville Historical Society since that time we can confirm that we will recommence in September 2021. We will, of course only start the monthly meetings if the government recommendations remain as they are at present, and we can meet as a group indoors. Our chairman, Tony Irvine is working on a programme of speakers that we are sure you will find interesting. Firstly, he is contacting speakers that we have had to cancel and will book them for future meetings.

We look forward to welcoming back our existing members and hope that many new people might come along and enjoy the meetings. Meetings will continue to be on the last Friday of each month, except July and August and December in the Village Hall at 8:00pm. The committee have agreed that we will keep our membership fee at £3 for an individual and £5 for family membership. Cost per meetings will remain at £2 per member and £3 for non-members.

The first meeting will be held on Friday 24th September 2021, and we will combine the AGM (only lasts 10 minutes) and a talk by Glynn White entitled “A Brief History of Weston Turville”.

In the meantime, we can recommend that you have a look at our website, www.WTHSoc.org.uk. The site contains a great deal of information about the history of Weston Turville, copies of old postcards, link to other relevant historical sites etc. The website has undergone significant revision by Adrain Randall which makes it easier to navigate your way through.

Please let us know if you no longer wish to renew your membership and whether you have any concerns about meeting in the village hall. We will of course arrange for an element of social distancing if that is what you, our members, would like.

  “ AGM + Weston Turville Criminality Part 1 ” Adrian Randall Meeting on Friday 28 th Jun 2024 Another AGM already. We are always hopeful of beating our 8 minute record. The quicker the AGM, the more time there is for this talk by Adrian, our Webmaster. This talk was originally intended as a presentation we had ready in case of an emergency. The research into crimes relating to Weston Turville and it’s residents became too interesting to potentially be left on the shelf. We have had to focus in on the 19 th Century crimes committed by a single individual, considered “The King of the Vagabonds”. This talk has an accompanying book containing the materials there was no time to include in the presentation. It will be on sale at the meeting for £12 (£10 a copy for members).
