“Science and Superstition - Medicine in the Roman Empire”
Towse Harrison
Meeting on Friday 31st Mar 2023
The Talk
Towse says, ‘the Romans were very clever but their ideas on medicine and
surgery relied largely on magic and folklore’. To support his talk there will
be real artefacts and authentic replicas which give insight into how the Romans
thought the body worked and what they did to treat disease and injury. Prepare
to be surprised!
For anyone interested there will be an opportunity to examine a selection of the objects at the end of the talk.
Our Speaker
Towse Harrison has a background in history, music and museum education having worked with groups such as English Heritage, The National Trust, The Royal Palaces, The Natural History and Foundling Museums in London.
